Pre-Arrival Overview

 

Congratulations on your admission to National Taipei University! We are excited to welcome you to campus. The following resources will help you prepare for your arrival to campus and time at the university.

 

I. VISA APPLICATION

There is NO “Student Visa” in Taiwan. Instead, Taiwan offers 2 types of Visa for foreign students:

1. Visitor Visa
2. Resident Visa

 

Since the Master Program in Smart Healthcare Management is a 2-year degree program, you are required to apply for a Resident Visa.

II. HOUSING 

We recommend international students to live in on-campus dorm. Due to domestic law, international students will need a co-signer and deposit when sigining leasing contract. For on-campus dormitory application, NTPU will send you an email and provide you with more details.

III. INSURANCE

Overseas Insurance

National Taipei University recommands students to purchase overseas or travel accident insurance, including health or medical insurance, which covers at least NTD$ 2 million for the full period during your stay in Taiwan at your home country before arriving Taiwan. You may bring the documents when registering at NTPU.

VI. PACKING

What To Bring

1. Original immigration documents.

2. Copies of all immigration documents (keep these separate from the originals).

3. Health examination records and required forms for international students.

4. Original transcripts and copies of transcripts

5. Original diploma and copies of diploma.

***Please scan the original documents and keep the electronic files with you for unexpected needs.

6. Appropriate clothing and attire for different weather. Taipei can reach up to 40 degrees Celsius () (about 104) in the summer and the winter temperatures can reach below 10 degrees Celsius (about 50). Also, the weather in Taipei is pretty humid. It is easy to have mold during winter and you may sweat a lot during summer.

 

What NOT To Bring

Travelers are strictly forbidden to bring the following items into Taiwan:

1. Fresh fruit and vegetables.

2. Plant or animal products for which prior authorization has not been obtained (includes live animals, meat products, live plants).

 

Any person bringing animals, plants, or their derivative products into Taiwan should go to the animal and plant quarantine counter to complete quarantine inspection procedures. If you wish to bring any item of agricultural produce into Taiwan, please telephone the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine.

 

Notice:

1. No traveling with other people's luggage. You might be charged with drug trafficking. Drug trafficking is punishable by death or life imprisonment in Taiwan.

2. To avoid violating local regulations, please do not carry stun guns when flying to or transferring from Hong Kong.
